Login to your account and go to “Settings” (Up at the top right) and then click the “Forwarding and POP” tab.

If you want all the e-mail in your inbox to retroactively sync, click “Enable POP for all mail”

Otherwise, select the second option and click save!

That should fix it!

Thanks to Willie @ MoreWillie.com

When I get around to doing the same to my phone, I’ll think about rewriting a guide!

I am now running a jail broken iPhone with the latest firmware, 1.1.1. And the best part…it was a pretty easy process. I have since installed Installer.app and plenty of third party goodness. So here is my guide, I am going to try to make it as simple and easy as possible. And as always, I take no responsibility if you end up screwing up your phone.

Who is this guide for? Anyone who has an iPhone with 1.1.1 firmware who wants to be able to use 3rd party apps and unlock your iPhone. Anyone with the 1.0.2 firmware who wants upgrade to the 1.1.1 firmware and use 3rd party apps. Mac Users.

Who this guide isn’t for: Anyone who used and SIM unlocking software on your phone. This is a guide to enable 3rd party application support and jailbreak your iPhone. This isn’t a guide to SIM unlock your phone. Windows Users.

Software you need before you start:

-iNdependence latest version - Click here to download.

-Just download iNdependence, don’t worry about Springboardpatcher or anything else.

-iPhone 1.0.2 firmware - Click here to download.

-Installer.app - Click here to download.

Got everything? Now what? Don’t freak out!

Although this might look complicated, it is really simple and really just involves clicking buttons in iNdependence and iTunes and is definitely worth it!

A Little Prep and Some Tips:

   1. Unzip the iPhone firmware you downloaded into a folder if you didn’t do it already. Then rename the extension of the original .zip file to .ipsw so that your iPhone can recognize it later.
2. Right click on the AppTapp Installer that you downloaded and Show Contents. Then double click on Contents then on Resources and move Installer to the Desktop.
3. Make sure that there is a wireless network that you can connect your iPhone and computer too.
4. Open Activity Monitor (Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor) and force quit the iTunesHelper application.
5. If at any time iNdependence fails at the given task, close it, reopen it, and try again. Sometimes it takes two or three tries.
6. It made it easier for me to put all the software I downloaded into a single folder on the desktop.

Ok, Time to Dive In, Let’s Hack that iPhone:

Getting back to 1.0.2 (For users with 1.1.1 firmware)

1.Connect your iPhone to your computer and sync it with iTunes.

      2.When finished, quit iTunes.

      3.Open iNdependence.

4.Click on the Firmware tab in iNdependence and click Enter DFU Mode. (Remember if it fails, just close iNdependence, open it back up and try again, it worked for me on the 2nd try so don’t worry if it fails the first time)

5.Once successful, close iNdependence and open iTunes. It should say that it found an iPhone in recovery mode. Click OK.

6.Hold down the option key and click Restore in iTunes. A file dialog box should come up. Pick the 1.0.2 file with .ipsw extension that you created from the .zip during preparation.

7.iTunes will restore your phone and will return an error message saying that the iPhone could not be restored. Click OK and close iTunes.

8.Open iNdependence and wait for the the iPhone screen to show the activation screen.

Activate & Jailbreak 1.0.2

9.Click Activate phone in iNdependence and follow the instructions and choose the unzipped files from the 1.0.2 firmware when prompted. When activation is successful, click the Jailbreak tab in iNdependence and click on Perform Jailbreak. Follow instructions onscreen. Again choose the unzipped files from the 1.0.2 firmware when prompted. When this finishes click on the SSH tab and then on the Install SSH/SFTP/SCP button and follow the onscreen instructions.

10.At this point you have a jail broken iPhone with 1.0.2 firmware and SSH, but we want the 1.1.1 firmware so let’s upgrade!

Upgrading to a jail broken 1.1.1

11.Make sure your computer and iPhone are both connected to the same wireless network and get your iPhone’s ip address by clicking (on your iPhone) on Settings->WiFi and then the arrow to the right of your network. Write this number down.

12.Now in iNdependence click on the Firmware tab and click Pre 1.1.1 upgrade. Put in the IP address that you just wrote down and the password. If you don’t know the password, use dottie as the password (it is the default). Follow the instructions.

13.If a message comes up prompting you about editing some file then click Yes.

14.Once completed, close iNdependence and open iTunes. Click Update (NOT Restore). When iTunes finishes updating your iPhone, quit iTunes and open iNdependence again.

15.Click the Activation tab and click Activate iPhone. This will take awhile and it will Activate and jailbreak your iPhone.

16.Once finished, go ahead and click on the SSH tab in iNdependence and click Install SSH/SFTP/SCP. Follow onscreen instructions.

17.Your iPhone should now contain the 1.1.1 firmware and be completely jail broken and have SSH installed….but what about 3rd party apps? Time to add installer.app.

Adding Installer.app to your 1.1.1 jail broken iPhone:

1.If you have followed this whole guide, this part is cake.

2.Click on the Customize tab in iNdependence and click on Applications->System and then click the Add button in the top right corner. Choose the Installer file that your took out of the AppTapp Installer program during prep. Wait for the upload to complete.

3.You should now have the Installer icon on your iPhone. Go to town.

4.You don’t have to worry about any app launchers like Summerboard either. iNdependence patches the display to allow unlimited applications by sliding your finger left and right on the home screen.

Adding NES Roms:

1.So you added the NES app but you don’t know how to put the games on your iPhone? Easy.

2.First find the games you want (try running a Google search).

3.Get your iPhone’s IP address again like you did previously.

4.Open up an FTP program like Cyberduck and click New Connection.

5.Make sure the connection type is SFTP and not just FTP.

6.Put in your iPhone’s IP address and use root and alpine for the login and password (respectively).

7.In the FTP client navigate to the var/root/Media directory and create a folder called ROMs and then create a folder inside ROMs called NES.

8.If you’re using Cyberduck then just drag all of your .NES files into this folder. Voila!

9.If you need more of an explanation on installing NES and ROMs go here.

There is a possibility of you screwing up your phone while doing this. If you are extremely careful and follow the instructions you will be fine. Okay? Don’t blame me, however, if you screw something up!

This walkthrough is assuming that you are using firmware 1.0.2 - Click here for instructions on how to check
You are going to need FOUR files for this to work. All but iTunes are hosted on this same site - no rapidshare bullshit.

You’ll need:

iTunes 7.4.2
1.0.2 Firmware (Save this file to “C:\Documents and Settings\%USER_NAME%\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates” - where you see %USER_NAME% - select YOUR username.
ibrickr_v08.zip
neccessary_files.zip

(And winzip, to extract them. If you don’t already have it)

Now, get your phone out of the box turn it on and plug it in to your computer. It should be at the “Activate iPhone - connect to iTunes” screen. Ignore that.

Only do the following step if your firmware is OLDER than 1.0.2

Hold down the power button and slide the power slider to shut your phone off. After that, power the iPhone back on and as soon as you see the grey apple logo, hold down the home button and the power button until you arrive at this screen (which should take about 20 seconds)

iTunes will then prompt you telling you that your phone needs to be restored, HOLD THE SHIFT KEY WHEN YOU CLICK THE RESTORE BUTTON this will allow you to select the firmware you would like to use, select the file “iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw” this will get you to version 1.0.2 firmware.

Next, open up iBrickr, which is available for download above. iBrickr will look like this when you first open it:

Click on the “Free my iPhone!” button. After doing that, iBrickr will tell you that you need to restart your iPhone in “Restore Mode”. That is simply done by shutting your phone off, turning it back on and as SOON as you see the grey apple logo, pressing and holding the power and home key for approximately 20 seconds. It takes a while, so don’t get frustrated if you think you’re doing it wrong.

After you do this, iTunes will prompt you telling you that you need to restore you iPhone, ignore all of these messages and focus your attention on iBrickr, which will display a new message, saying that it is modifying your iPhone. Yay! We’re getting close to having an unlocked iPhone!

Just let iBrickr do it’s thing with your iPhone, it will take 3-4 minutes. At this time, go take a piss or get a drink or something. It really is like watching paint dry.

iBrickr will now come back and say “Success!” - which means that we’re another step closer to home. Click the button that says “Sweet!” and then close iBrickr (it tends to hang up at this point, don’t ask me why because I don’t know)

Open iBrickr again and you will now see the “Ready to Customize” screen. There will be four options:

Ringtones

Sounds

Application

Files

The one we want is going to be “Files”

On the iPhone on your computer monitor, select “usr” and then “libexec” and upload the lockdownd file (which was included in the “necessary_files.zip” file) After it finishes uploading to your iPhone, power the phone off and back on. There will no longer be a message telling you that you need to activate your iPhone! See?! I told you this was easy!

Now, go back into iBrickr after your phone has completely restarted and now click “Applications”. At the next screen it will tell you that you need to install the PXL daemon on your phone before you can really do a whole lot. So click the Install PXL button and it will yet again ask you to restart your phone. Restart your phone again and then when you are back up and running, go back into the iBrickr window and click “Continue” - after you do that, you will need to restart ONE LAST TIME. Once again, go back into the iBrickr window after the restart and click “Check for PXL”

After that it will go into the “Application Manager” screen. There, you will want to click “Install from PXL file” and then select the AnySIM 1.01.pxl” file. It will install the application and restart your iPhone. You will just need to do the “slide to unlock” and you’re back at the home screen - and at this point you will notice that there is a new icon on there. Before we can do anything with it, you need to go into Settings, General, Auto-lock, and disable that option. Auto-Lock cannot be enabled while running AnySIM!

Now, click the home button and get back to the main screen and click on “AnySIM” (the icon that looks like a red dial) simply “slide to unlock” and scroll down to the red button, click it and then let AnySIM go to work! It will take anywhere from 5-20 minutes to do its thing, but

just let it work. Do not try and do anything else on the phone!

Now, when it finishes, it will probably give you some sort of error message. Click okay to any messages that it prompts you with and then power down your phone. Once your phone is shut off, you’ll need to remove the SIM card (which is located between the power button and the headphone jack on the top of the phone). The easiest way I have found is by using a thumb tack. Simply insert the thumb tack into the hole and apply a slight bit of pressure to either side and gently pull out, releasing the clip and sim card!

Next, insert your SIM card and turn the phone back on. You should now be able to use your iPhone on any other GSM network!

I will write up a step-by-step guide on how to get youtube working on your iPhone, as well as setting up GMail for use with your phone.

   1. Turn on the phone and slide to unlock the keypad. iPhone screen should show that only emergency calls is allowed.
2. Enter the following key sequence into the iPhone: *3001#12345#* and then finish by pressing Call button. This will enter field test mode of iPhone.
3. Tap on Versions.
4. The firmware revision information of iPhone installed out of the box will be shown on LCD screen. The following guide will match the firmware revision to the firmware version.

      03.12.06_G - firmware version 1.0.0
03.14.08_G - firmware version 1.0.1 or 1.02
04.01.13_G - firmware version 1.1.1
04.02.04_G - firmware version 1.1.1

How to Check iPhone Firmware from Packaging Box Serial Number

If you want to know your iPhone firmware version without unwrap and open up the package, the serial number of iPhone wrote on a sticker on the box may provide you some hint. In fact, if you order a phone online from Apple, it’s possible to see what is your iPhone’s serial number when you check your invoice online, even before before the phone arrives at your hand.

A typical iPhone will have a serial number in the following format: 7T727XYZWH8

The serial number is made up of several blocks which have its own meaning, as explain below:

Digits 1 to 3 (7T7) = Year / Batch code
Digits 4 to 5 (27) = Week of manufacture
Digits 6 to 8 (XZY) = Unique identifier part of the S/N
Digits 9 to 11 (WH8) = 8Gb model

The only significant number in the serial ID number to help you guess which firmware version your iPhone has are digit 4 and digit 5, which show week of manufacturing of the iPhone. It has been known that iPhone version 1.1.1. started shipping to customers from week 39 onwards.

So if your 4th and 5th digits in iPhone serial number is less than 39 (38 or lower), it’s almost certain that the iPhone as firmware 1.0.2. If the number is greater than 39 (40 and higher), it’s also almost certain that the firmware in iPhone will be 1.1.1 or newer, where you probably need to start arranging to return the phone if you’re not planning to use the phone on AT&T. Grey area is when the digits is 39, where the iPhone has equal chances to be 1.0.2 or 1.1.1. To actually check the correct firmware version, you have to use other methods listed below.
